Meet Melissa from www.RainyDayArt.etsy.com

Who are you?
I'm Melissa, the artist at RainyDayArt.

What do you create?
I work in a variety of mediums, but my main focus is fiber art. I knit, spin, felt, dye, sew, and also make button magnets and some ceramics. I would get so tired of knitting just one type of item to sell. I also really like to do custom orders.

How long have you been doing your craft?
I started knitting when I was in grade school, and gradually expanded to many more fiber arts. I opened my etsy shop in January, 2007.

What do you like about creating?
I love making stuff. It's such a great feeling to have something that you created work the way you intended whether is a mug you made for tea or hats you made for your friends. I think the best feeling is when others love the things you made.

What do you like about your business?
Well, I get to know that other people like my art enough to buy it. I also really like all the community on etsy and other sites. I enjoy setting it up just the way I want and tracking my site and that kind of stuff.

How did you find out about Etsy?
I don't remember. :p

Do you sell your products anywhere other than Etsy?
Yes, I have a shop at http://RainyDayArt.artfire.com and I've sold at some art shows. I have one coming up. I'll be at the Fourth Friday Arts event on January 23rd in Crown Point, IN.
I'm still setting up the artfire shop. It has the same patterns as my etsy shop, and I'm slowly adding other items. One of a kind items will only be in one place though.

What do you do when you're not creating products for your shop?
Oh, I tend to have my head in the clouds...
I also enjoy doing all sorts of other things, lots out outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, camping, and kayaking, as welling as reading and computer games, and I have a little kitty that needs me.

What are some other sites to find out more about you and what you love to create? (Blog, Flikr, MySpace, etc.)
My blog is at http://rainydayart.blogspot.com/ it has quite a few posts. I have all sorts of stuff up there from what I'm working on, to the latest blog carnival, plus some free knitting patterns. I'm also on flickr.

Thanks Melissa

and now for the last Christmas color: GREEN

I made my own treasury again since it is so hard to find room on etsy.It makes me remember the story of Jesus when He was born and their parents could not find room in a regular inn so they ended up in a manger.Sometimes we are so busy that He can't find room in our schedules either.
I put together my collection of favorites and best seller for you to enjoy in the color of today for organics and not so :Green.
Here featured are some products from the one a day challenge team( a group of ladies that formed to take on Bittersweets challenge to create on item a day. The challenge began in April for a month. After the challenge, we liked each other so much that we kept on) and daintycrochetbyaly. Enjoy!!

GOLDEN YEARS...Remembering Heath Ledger when he was a good knight

I wanted to make a treasury in gold to remember the song of the movie, one of many good ones from A knight's tale, but it was impossible to find room. So I created one for myself and the ones who enjoy gold at this time of the year..I believe we are many....

We were at the Front Page of etsy today

Aly's creation was featured this morning about 11 am at the Frnt Page of etsy. This is how she describes the romantic and more than original collar:

This collar is a collaboration project with norakaren.etsy.com

The peacock has been handpainted by her on denim Fabric and I had designed the collar with denim and crocheted lace to be the perfect accesory to go with jeans and a simple top.

The colors are just exciting and striking... greens, and blues, the lace is royal blue.

Good job Aly and cheers! for more to come.

A flower with my name

Last night I was following the threads on the community forum of etsy ,when I noticed I was 45 pages behind in my redaing since sunday night....This girls communicate a lot! So rather than keeping with every post I jumped into the names of any one of the member of the ONEADAYCHALLENGE team and checked their shops. That is when I found that beadflora created a flower named after every team member's name. That is so neat and wonderful, and right there I found my flower that is off course sorrounded by peacock feathers, in a black and white beading theme(very me,and actually my favorite combination) and I went to bed happy that the days wasn't only for work but for art and for people who still think of others and create thinking on them . Congrats, you made my day!
Take a chance to visit BeadFloraJewels.etsy.com , the shop devoted to doing beaded flowers with the French technique. Each flower is made with great attention to detail. She creates flowers made of beads for any ocassion. Check out her wedding bouquet showpieces, they are stunning!

Meet ccdesigns

Corinne from oneadaychallenge at Etsy

Who are you?
My name is Corinne Portalatin. My friends all call me Cori. My business name is CC Designs. ( Cori's Creative Designs).
What do you create?
I love to create jewelry for all occasions. I have a wide range of jewelry that includes bridal jewelry and hair accessories. I find wire wrapping jewelry the most enjoyable technique. Maybe because it takes a long time to create a piece of wearable art. My business is evolving from beaded to artisan wire wrapped jewelry.
How long have you been doing your craft?I have been making jewelry since 1995. I first started out wanting to earn some extra money when my son was a toddler. I found an ad about making money and quickly found out it was a scam. I was so taken by jewelry making that I had wanted to pursue it more. My husband had also passed later that year and I knew I was going to be a stay at home mother for my son. I relocated to my hometown and found out that in- home jewelry parties were a lot of fun and profitable. I took a couple of years away from jewelry making in 2003 for a change of pace, and went work in an office for a couple of years. In 2005, I found a small shop to consign my jewelry and wanted to return to creating jewelry full time, because I was missing it. I also never had enough time to complete the custom orders that I was receiving from the consignment shop. In 2007 I found etsy.
What do you like about creating?
Creating helps me relieve stress and depression. I love spending time creating wearable works of art. I have dreams at night about different designs, even the bead colors. I wake up in the morning thinking about that piece of jewelry and can't wait to get started on it.
What do you like about your business?
I love that I can choose my own hours, even though I'm a workaholic, some days I just don't have time to work. I love to see people wearing a piece of my jewelry, even more people I don't know. My first experience with that was one day in church shortly after moving back to Missouri. I saw a lady wearing a necklace that I knew I had made. I remembered the person bought it as a gift for her mother at a jewelry party.
How did you find out about Etsy?
I found etsy doing a google search trying to find places to sell my jewelry. I wasn't happy with selling only on consignment. Do you sell your products anywhere other than Etsy? I sell my jewelry locally at a wonderful home decor store in Troy called the At Home Outlet. I also sell in a FTD Florist Gift Shop in Warrenton. I sell online at Ecrater, and Icraft.
What do you do when you’re not creating products for your shop?
I enjoy playing bingo with my fiance (Kevin) and when I visit my family we usually play Scrabble. I really love to work large jigsaw puzzles, but etsy has taken that time away from me for now. I think I may take a vacation soon just to work a puzzle. I keep saying that. I love lighthouses!
What are some other sites to find out more about you and what you love to create?

Concentric circles painted like retro stitches

I painted concentric circles like stitches in gold, copper, and bronze fabric paint to give the dress a sixties retro look. The bottom part of the dress looks like the belt and loops of a pair of jeans making it unique and so different.Dress it up with bronze strappy sandals to a very sassy night out or just rattan flip-flops for day time!.
Invisible Zipper in the side for a better fitting.
It is one of a kind and my original design.
This is the only one I have , no other sizes. No stencil, no copies. This is a unique hand painted Dress in dark brown denim from C-Loe Paris.
Talla 3 or size medium.
Measurements are : 38 " around bustier in the widest area ,33" waist , 40 " around hips and 30 1/2 " long from collar to lower end dress.

I use fabric paint. The paint doesn't fade and the colors stay shiny always. Glitters are water resistant because they are mixed with the paint.
Regular wash or hand wash is recommended. No dry clean, no bleach,no fabric softener, please. When iron , don't press on painting.

If you prefer to have it on your own favorite jeans ,jacket ,outfit, canvas or where your imagination goes , contact me and I will charge you only for the painting.

Hope you love it!!E-mail me for any questions at norakaren2002 [!at] yahoo.com
